Leicester Fashion Week , 2016 !
Hey guys . Hope everybody is well , and has had the most amazing week .
Its been so long but I'am back and as many of you may be aware Leicester fashion weeks, just passed by which is what this post is all about , and I’ve got to say that this season had some of the best crop of designers and their collections. This has easily been one of my favorite seasons over the span of the past couple of years, with some of the most interesting designs being displayed. I was invited to Leicester fashion week on the 21st of October and this was actually my first time going , as in previous years I’ve never had the chance , either I would be busy or something would come up resulting to having to stick to images and video’s . Now as I live in Leicester , having the opportunity to visit the event , was very exciting for me , because through the history of British fashion , Leicester played a massive role , and being a part of a local event in my own city representing what Leicester stood for was something I looked forward to many weeks before the event .
Attending as a 2016 official blogger , I had been given the opportunity to get backstage passes to capture all the exclusives from the event which I will be sharing with you guys in this post shortly .
Preparations surly started way before the fashion show kicked off . Being present whilst models rehearsed , got ready and prepared to walk the show really demonstrated just how much preparation these events take and the effort that is put in by organisers and the amazing designers that showcase there collections .
After capturing some backstage action , I moved on to speak to some of Leicester’s top designers that were showcasing in the show , speaking to them about their visions and dreams being designers in Leicester and what would be next for them . I surely did gain a lot of knowledge , that would help me in the future , with my own fashion studies .
Almost all the designers I spoke to , told me that the 'key to success was always hard work ' and that success , specially in fashion , which is one of the most competitive careers out there , does not come easy , and people will not always appreciate your personal vision but what's important is self belief and having confidence in what your presenting .
One designer even quoted ' you must fail to sink ' . This showed just how much passion and thrive individuals belonging to the fashion industry have and it surely inspired me . All designers were also very thankful for events such as Leicester fashion week , as it was not only a way to showcase there upcoming collections , but also for fashion loving individuals to get together and everybody to share this one passion that is forever growing in the world today .
In addition I also spent some time with the organsiers of the event , who made sure that everything was running smoothly from the moment they stepped foot in the venue , from setting up , to little details such as leaflets , all was made sure to be perfectly laid out . Of course the hard work and effort did pay off , as the set up looked fantastic , elegant and sophisticated , to ensure the people who visited had the best experience.
The blogger pass enabled me , to speak to a lot of dofferent people within the industry but also have the opportunity to speak to people who came to the show .Mostly everyone who visited was local within Leicester and all claimed what an honor it was to have such an event hosted locally . At entrance Snapchats & outfit posts were taken and people made there way upstairs to grab a refresher and then to the fashion show halls ready for the runway .
At this point finishing touches were added backstage with all the models looking absolutely stunning, and ready to smash it on the runway .
